Hunter

Location

The Hunter Project is located 20km north of Thompson, Manitoba and consists of one Mineral Exploration License and 11 claims for a total area of 12,520 hectares in the northern extension of the TNB.

Geology

The area is underlain by Archean, Ospwagan Group and ultramafic intrusions. Locally Kisseynew metasediments are infolded with the Ospwagan and Archean.

Historical Exploration

The project area was explored by a variety of companies in the 1950’s to the 1970’s, which led to the discovery of the Mel deposit located immediately to the East of the Hunter property. Inco (Vale) explored the Hunter property and the Mel area from 1999 to 2005 in JV with Nuinsco Resources Ltd (Victory Nickel)

CanAlaska Work

Significant exploration targets have been defined on the MEL and the claims, based on a compilation of historical exploration. Extensive UTEM and AMT surveys in 2000-2005 resulted in a number of drill targets, only some of which have been drilled by Vale (Inco). Some of the nickel intersections from older drilling also require follow-up. The January 2022 VTEM survey will provide a better definition of the drill targets based on old data with approximate locations.

Potential

The Hunter property has the potential for several deposits of the Thompson or Birchtree-type.
